Nayeli Mancilla

Artist | Designer | Photographer

I am a multidisciplinary artist based in Silver City, New Mexico, currently pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts at Western New Mexico University (WNMU).

My work spans photography, painting, drawing, and graphic design, often exploring themes of healing through confrontation and connection.

I originally came to WNMU as a volleyball athlete studying education, but an ACL injury changed my path and led me to the arts. Since then, I’ve been exploring how creativity can reflect and process personal and collective growth. In addition to my studies, I serve as the Expressive Arts Senator for WNMU’s Student Government, collaborating with student artists and supporting campus initiatives.

Professionally, I’ve worked as a graphic designer and content creator for WNMU Athletics, Miller Library, Marketing, and currently the Outdoor Program. I also run a small business offering design commissions and portrait photography. My art has been featured in the Gila Centennial and three McCray Gallery Juried Shows, earning recognition from the New Mexico Watercolor Society and other awards. My work was recently recognized in an article published by the John Stermer Foundation, which also awarded me a scholarship for my artistic achievements

I am currently creating work for my BFA show, Rage, Reclamation, and Release, which will debut in the spring of 2026.
